Facilitators Needed for SHPE's New Graduate Program - Honorarium Available

SHPE is developing a NEW program for graduate students that is piloting in just a few weeks! We are inviting associate and full professors, as well as teaching professors, adjuncts, or professionals with a graduate or advanced degree to serve as a GRADS (GRaduate & Advanced Degree Students) Mentoring Group (GMG) facilitator.

What GMG facilitators will do:
Group facilitators guide group discussions with 5-8 GRADS. We anticipate a time commitment of 10 hours over a period of approximately 2 months (please note these dates are tentative and might shift slightly depending on recruitment efforts):

  • One hour orientation meeting – Second week of February
  • One hour kick off meeting – February 21st, 2022
  • At least 6 one-hour meetings with group – Period of March 1st to April 15th, 2022
  • One hour closing meeting – April 18th, 2022
  • One hour debrief at the end of the program – Last week of April

What GMG facilitators receive:
SHPE will offer ongoing support and development for facilitators with an orientation introducing the GMG model, best facilitation practices, and preparation for the first group meeting. In addition, GMG facilitators will receive an honorarium for their participation in the amount of $1,000. Honorariums are processed in two payments, one at the start of the program and one at the conclusion of the program.

You can find more program information below, but if you are interested, please join now as a “Facilitator” and complete your user profile.

Thanks for your time and looking forward to possibly collaborating with you.

Best,

Dayna

Additional Program Information

The GRADS Mentoring Groups (GMG) focus on the need for our GRaduate & Advanced Degree Students to develop skills that can help them survive and thrive in graduate school and beyond. These mentoring groups will provide them with a safe space where they can discuss their professional experiences and challenges with a faculty or professional facilitator.

For our pilot we plan to have five groups. Groups are meant to be small enough (5 to 8 participants per group lead by 1-2 facilitators) to create meaningful relationships between facilitators and participants. Each group will focus on a different topic as listed below.

Group
