PhD Recruitment Excellence Fellowship (PREF)

Background  Providing competitive stipends is an important component to recruiting top-quality PhD students. The Gallogly College of Engineering PhD Recruitment Excellence Fellowship (PREF) program is designed to assist academic programs in the College in recruiting outstanding PhD students. The purpose of this announcement, which includes an application form, is to solicit outstanding applications to receive these PREFs.  PREF Level, Duration, and Disbursement  The maximum amount of each PREF is limited to $5,000 and is not renewable. To be eligible for a PREF award, the recipient must be accepted as a full-time student in one of GCoE’s PhD programs and must also be awarded an annual stipend of at least $20,000 from the student’s home academic unit.   Gallogly College of Engineering Dissertation Excellence Award 1 Dissertation Excellence Award (DEA) Background Rewarding and encouraging excellence in research is a core value of the Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE). The Gallogly College of Engineering Dissertation Excellence Award (DEA) is designed to reward PhD students that have achieved outstanding research results and encourage these students to complete their dissertation with excellence. Holland Award is a $1,000 cash award recognizing a full-time undergraduate woman  bearing the same spirit of Fern Holland, a desire to make a significant difference in the world around us in areas such as democracy, human rights, women's issues, or leadership. The award, sponsored by Student Affairs and Delta Gamma Fraternity, honors Fern Holland, a 1992 University of Oklahoma graduate, who was the first U.S. civilian killed in Iraq in 2004. Fern was an active student while at OU, involved on campus and in Delta Gamma Fraternity and the OU Panhellenic Association. COVID-19   Vaccine   Submission Process As recently announced, the University of Oklahoma must comply with the   federal executive order   mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for federal employees, federal contractors, and other identified individuals. The deadline for employees to be fully vaccinated is Jan. 4, 2022. You may find details about this federal   requirement   here . COVID-19   Vaccine   Requirement   Extended to Jan. 4, 2022 As announced last week, the University of Oklahoma must comply with the   federal executive order   mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for federal employees, federal contractors, and other identified individuals.   The deadline for compliance has been extended to Jan. 4, 2022 .   To comply with this federal   requirement , all OU employees – including people appointed in HR PeopleSoft as faculty; staff; undergraduate and graduate student employees; part-time, temporary, and PEAK employees; scholars, research scholars, and associate research scholars; and graduate research and teaching assistants – must be   fully vaccinated   by Jan. 4, 2022, with a WHO-approved COVID-19   vaccine .     October 29, 2021   Dear OU Community,   Last month, President Biden issued an   executive order   mandating COVID-19 vaccination for federal employees, federal contractors, and other identified individuals. After a careful legal assessment, it has been determined the order applies to Oklahoma research universities – including the University of Oklahoma – and their employees. We are obligated to adhere to the order.
