Apply to participate in Research Day at the Capitol!

Each year, 4 undergraduates from OU are selected to compete in a statewide day of research presentations in Oklahoma City, with events held at both the Science Museum and the State Capitol. During this two-day event each student will meet with state legislators, display a poster and give a short presentation about their research project, and attend a reception. A panel of judges will determine winners of cash prizes, including the grand prize of a summer research internship worth $4500.

 

Eligibility:

  • Student must be a legal resident of Oklahoma
  • Student must be an undergraduate
  • Research project must be in science (including social science), technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Research must have been conducted at OU or an OU affiliate institution
  • Group projects are acceptable, but only one nominee may present the project and be eligible for a prize
  • Selected participantsmust be able to attend a mandatory informational training sessionto be held via Zoomon Friday, January 7, 2022, from 11:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For this meeting students must have access to a full-size tablet or computer with audio, video, and internet access; cell phones are not acceptable.
  • Selected participants must be able to attend Research Day activities in Oklahoma City on Monday, March 28, 12 noon - 5pm AND Tuesday, March 29, 7:30am - 12 noon.

 

To apply, submit the following materials:

  • The title of your project and the department/College in which the research took place.
  • A description of your research project and its relevance, targeted to a general reading audience. 350 words maximum.
  • Contact information for the professor(s) mentoring you on this project.
  • Your resume.
  • Please note: Students chosen to participate will be required to submit additional materials at a later time.

 

Deadline for applications is 7am on Monday, October 11th, 2021.
